I have had a problem with the Coleman thermostat in my coach ever since I purchased the coach. My thermostat model is the RVComfort.zc. When I first purchased the coach, the thermostat would occasionally lock up while operating the A/C, and would display a 00 read-out. I would have to turn the power supply off, and back on again in order to correct the issue. Initially, this would only happen once or twice a year.

Back then I contacted Coleman and they told me it was some sort of 12 volt power interference from somewhere else in the coach. They sent me a new thermostat and a filter in hopes of correcting the interference issue, but it didn't solve the problem.

I went through the coach trying to locate what could possibly be causing the interference. I found nothing. Someone in another forum told me to reroute the ground wire that leads to the thermostat. This didn't work either.

This interruption is now occurring much more frequently. I have been camping for 3 days and so far it has happened once each day. Luckily I have been inside the coach during each ocurrance. My fear is that I will leave on an excursion and come back and find my dog dead from the heat. We are currently camping near Palm Springs, so we will have to take the dog with us everywhere we go.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so, have you found a permanent fix?

Craig

Personally I would do a search for the instructions to install a Hunter Douglas thermostat, install it and move on. It is only about 30 dollars to fix the issue permanently.

Turn off all lights in the coach and one at a time turn on the florescent lights. Check the thermostat operation each time. They are renown for this kind of interference. A bad converter/charger can also through out dirty DC voltage and cause problems with the thermostat. Once you have located the source of the problem, you will need to get it repaired to solve the issue. Good luck and keep us posted.
