I have a 2008 NEWMAR X-AIRE 5er. Can anyone tell why the factory would put a 42 gallon grey for the kitchen and a 42 gallon grey for the bathroom and not be able to combine them ? So i am trying. I have
one common outlet for all 3 tanks. I put a twist on gate valve closed it, filled the bathroom grey opened it then opened the kitchen grey and no equilization. Why ?
Thanks

Where does the black tank come in on the line? Is it possible that it is backflushing into the black tank, chooie?

My guess is the kitchen tank is higher than bath tank.

I was checking it last night and raised the front 6" and it did transfer.
I found out this morning that the kitchen tank is 5" higher than the bathroom.
THANKS FOR THE INPUT

For me the capacity of the Gray tank is the limiting tank when dry camping.
My previous RV had the Bathroom sink drain into the Black tank. My current 5W has the Kitchen, Shower and Bath sinks all drain into the gray tank.
I have been thinking about re-plumbing it so that the Bathroom sink would drain into the Black tank, for my application it would be a very simple thing to do. I checked with a local RV supply/repair shop and they said that there wasn’t any code to prevent it. There are some RV’s being made today that are plumbed that way. The “P” trap under the sink would stop any odors, or I could add a 2nd “P” trap.
I realize that the volume of water used in the Bath sink isn’t very much but every little bit would help.
My tank capacities-
Fresh water- 80 Gal
Gray 50 Gal
Black 50 Gal

My limiting factor is the bathroom grey as well. I don't understand why the factory
would not tie the two together knowing that the unit is built and designed for
boondocking. It is almost a waste having 42 gallons for one kitchen sink. But luckly
I figured a way to satisfy what my needs are.
FRESH 105 GAL
BLACK 42 GAL
BTH GREY 42 GAL
KTCH GREY 42 GAL
THANKS FOR THE INPUT

I imagine that by having all the drain tanks the same capacity that it would reduce the inventory. Also the mounting brackets/method would be similar.
But I agree with you it would make it a lot better if they would make the Gray tank larger and the Black tank smaller!
May you have fair winds and following seas

I'm in the same boat. Two isolated gray tanks, every sink and shower goes to one gray tank-and- only the clothes washer goes to the second gray tank. That second gray tank is practically useless because FHU are required to use the clothes washer beyond 1-2 loads.
Hummm, yet another project before hitting the road again. Wonder what the Colorado design engineers were thinking????
