Compressor Stays on in Off Position

Have 2002 GulfStream motorhome with Dometic Model # 620425.321 AC in main living space. As stated earlier, even with thermostat in off position, the compressor still starts to run. Runs for about minutes and the trips itself off. Then in about 15 minutes it will run this cycle again. The unit had other issues such as leaking water back in the coach but I am going to clean the unit now to address a lot of that I hope. I"m told that I have a BAD AC Relay Board which is Part # 3311564.000 about $50. Trouble is, WHERE IS THIS BOARD LOCATED? TOPSIDE OR IN THE UNIT? Any help on this issue appreciated.

remastersjr,

The answer to your question is TOPSIDE.

You have a low profile Penguin model. To get to the board, you have to go onto the roof.

1. Make sure the power to the A/C is off at the circuit breaker panel.

2. Remove the large plastic shroud.

3. The circuit board is under the sloped metal cover on the right (passenger) side of the A/C.

4. Be very cautious when working around the capacitors - also located in the same area. (They BITE!)

Hope this helps.

Sounds to me like a stuck relay for the compressor.... if this is part of the board which I think it is, then you'll problably need to replace the board.

Don't keep running it like this.... if the compressor continues to operate and the fan stops, then it will start trying to pump a liquid instead of a gas.. and that will cause the compressor to fail permanently... get it fixed before it costs you even more money to repair. (or replace then)

Think you will find that the Board is more like a $100
