How does the convection/microwave compare to a standard 4 burner with oven. Can it possibly take the place of the above? Most new rigs seem to have done away with the gas stove/oven now. The convection oven also looks much smaller. What are your thoughts on this subject?
Cheers
Brian.

I never had a convection/microwave till we bought our coach. We love it! I have broiled meats in it, she has baked in it. Once we learned how to use it we really like it. When i broiled burgers in it cause it was to cold out to grill they turned out super! Browned on the outside. My sharp unit quit and i replaced it with another convection unit as i love it in the coach. Hope this helps

My coach has a convection microwave, no stove oven and we love it. I only have a two burner stove top, but that is ok, we cook outside a lot. When we cook breakfast inside we use electric griddle, microwave convection or toaster.

We miss the LP oven-but! We'd rather have the extra space etc. We do miss being able to cook a bigger bird but that is not an often need. Plus with the LP oven we could cook AND I could microwave a cup of tea etc.

You will still need surface burners, but when we had the convection microwave, we NEVER once used the oven.

There are too many times when we're using both the microwave and the gas oven for the convection/microwave to do both jobs. We ordered our coach with the convection and also the gas oven. Two weeks into the order the dealer called and said the manufacturer was running short of gas ovens and could we do without it. Told him that would be a deal-breaker and guess what, the next day he called and said no problem, the coach will have a gas oven.
And right now our convection/microwave will shut off every 58 seconds and the start button has to be pressed again. Would be kind of hard to cook a 20-30 minute dish with it, but the gas oven works fine.

Our MW/Convection is great for cast iron skillet cornbread. Good firm crust and soft and moist inside. Just like dad makes at home.

We ordered our coach in '04 without the gas oven and have never missed it. Anything you cook in the gas oven can be done in the convection oven.

FYI our convection/microwave will run for up to 90 minutes. You said yours will only do 58 seconds? Sounds like yours has a problem.

We had an oven in our other MH and used it a half dozen times in 12 years. The MH we now have doesn't have an oven and at first it seemed strange. Now we like the convection microwave and also the additional drawer space where on oven would otherwise go.

For us the micro/convection combo is the way to go. We had the oven in the 2 previous rv's but do not miss the oven at all. The convection is somewhat quicker, has more even heat and uses no propane!
