Question : We had an alarm sound on our refrig this morning -

The converter box was on - under the bed - RV hooked up to house power - convertor box was switched on and getting very very warm and the alarm started sounding... was the problem the converter box being switched on? Sorry we are new to this RV and are trying to fumble our way thru... we truly appreciate any advise/suggestions you may have

The refrig is showing a "C" code - this is on a 1999 Damon Challenger.

Here is a VIDEO no the Norcold refrigerator, as you didn't mention the make. The 'C' code is for loss or low 12 vdc voltage. I'm not sure from your statement if the refrigerator was giving the alarm or the converter was.

Yes, you converter should be on and charging the 12v 'House' batteries. If you have a meter you should read the batteries for voltage. If your reading below 13.1v, it possible that your converter is not operating and charging the battery(s).
