Converter heat

The converter in my 5er is mounted in the bottom of a cabinet, & when I pull out a drawer, I can feel a lot of heat coming off of it. I cut a vent into the door in front of it, but wonder if I need to install a muffin fan. I could vent it o/s via something like a dryer vent, or into the interior. This thing is 30 yrs old, and this is probably original by the looks of it. Do I need to vent it at this late date?

The converters I have had all had internal fans that went on and off depending on the internal temp. My Winnebago has a louvered vent (looks like a square furnace vent) that is in a cabinet wall next to the floor. The converter is in the cabinet on the floor and right behind the vent.

Fans to move air never help.

Fans are the only simple answer to high ambient temps in one place. Placement and type are issues. IF you want quiet use a large muffin fans with a very light cloth or metal mesh cover and provide a second opening as big or bigger for air to enter/exit through preferably in a way that moves the air through the area from one side to the opposite side or in the bottom out the opposite top. It will be a lot easier to keep the air in the MH than to properly vent it.
