Cooktop Oven valve not working properly

I have a 1994 Magic Chef Range (Cooktop/Oven) 16RB-3BT. The control Valve for the Oven (actually referred to in the parts breakdown as the thermostat but it is the item that has the knob on it for oven control) This item doesn't light the Pilot properly. If I place the knob in the "Pilot on" position (as instructions state) the pilot will not light. When I turn the knob a little further past the "Pilot On" position the pilot will light and after about 30 seconds the oven main burner will come on. Then when I turn the knob back to the "pilot on" position, the pilot and the main burner go out. Another problem is when I pull out on the oven knob there is a gas leak at the point where the knob stem enters the thermostat assembly.

Welcome.

Not sure if you're asking something or not. But since you have a leak, you need a new control valve. You might have a bad pilot tube/burner, but probably also a bad valve.
