Cool gadget
I bought one of these intending to use it only to back up the MacBook Air and a couple of iPads but once I got it to work I discovered how versatile it is.
At $39 it's cheaper than a comparably sized bare disk drive.
It is:
A wireless DNLA media device and server capable of 5 concurrent HD VIDEO streams, and an unknown number of audio as well.
A wired DNLA server
A wireless backup for any computer
A wired network drive when connected to a network
A wifi hotspot (the one thing I have not tested yet)
A USB powered hard drive
There are apps for IOS and Android that make it appear as additional storage for your device - but the gotcha is that you have to be connected to it's network.
If you happen to get one I suggest that you read the manual and do a full restore/reset before you do anything else with it, otherwise the configuration menu does not appear.
500 Gigs for $39? All that other stuff is pretty cool too.
My home theater system has a wireless and a wired interface built in.

Uh, how about a web link so we can get one.. I could use a half terabyte of back up storage.. in fact, that is exactly what this computer requires.

Manuals
The manual that comes with it is not much. I found better information here : G-TECHNOLOGY - G-CONNECT Help and Product Support | G-Technology
Mine would not let me configure it until I did a 'reset'. Power it on and wait for it to be ready, then press the wifi button until the status LED begins flashing.

Available again
Frys has them on sale again.
I attempted to use mine to watch movies via the USB port on my TV. It worked until the second 'chapter' of the movie when I got 'The Media is Invalid'. It does work when being shown through an iPad or iPhone. However, HD content with a lot of movement stutters and pixelates. I had several other apps running and that may have had something to do with, or maybe it was a wifi channel issue. I did not do a site survey to see what channels were being used around me.
Still, $39 for a 500 GB USB, network, and wireless drive is a very good price.

Reviews......
I'm a techie and when I see reviews that start with 'I could not get it to work' or 'doesn't have a battery' or the ever popular 'it didn't arrive when expected' I disregard them totally. At $39 if I have to disassemble it and use the bare drive in a laptop (I rebuild & repair them in my spare time) I'm still ahead of the game. A similar bare drive is $54!
Not being able to play media on the big screen via the USB connection is a problem with the TV, Not the device. It works flawlessly on everything else I've tried it on.
