If you are a wee bit handy, this guy sells a modestly priced kit along with an instruction video. I have re strung a couple of mine and it has worked out well. Or you can do a search for Day Nite shades and it will come up with all sorts of people that will do it.

Our solution was 2" wood veneer mini blinds in our dinette area, which we absolutely love instead of Day/Night Shades. Now the ones in the living area came unstrung so mini's going up there as well.

We've bought the string and do the restringing ourselves. Depending on what brand and style you have, schematics for many of them can be found on the net somewhere. In our case, no schematic was available so we had to start from scratch.

We've since tired of the ongoing problems with the day/night shades and have ordered MCD American Duo Shades. They're pricey little rascals but will eliminate a whole lot of aggravation.
