Does anyone know of a anything I can check on my Whirlpool dehumidifier. It runs all the time and not dehumidifier any. When working the air use to be warmer out the back, now it is cold. If I have to replace it I would like one smaller than this one. It is rather large and for a house. I had it for three years and it did a good job until a week ago.

Tom, It sounds like either the comperssor is not running or if it is then it has developed a leak and will not be feasible to repair. If the compressor is not running it might be worth checking out. Good luck and let us know the outcome.

Mike,
I called Whirlpool today and the think som ething wrong with the compressor or the sealed system and they are sending a service tech next Wednesday to check it out. If it is one of these thing they going to give me a new one at no cost to me.
thanks,
Tom

Tom,

Back at the beginning of summer, our basement dehumidifier did the same thing you're describing. It was running but it didn't sound as if the compressor was running.

I rapped on the side of the compressor kind of hard with a rubber mallet and it started running again and worked fine all summer. I think it was just stuck.

Might give it a try, sure won't cost anything.
