Does the use of dishwasher soap (liquid/powder) provide a noticeable difference in "cleanliness" of the gray tank? DW said it is designed to remove dried egg so it must do some good. Anyone notice?

How did you get dried eggs in your gray water tank?

JMHO - Two thoughts... First, dishwasher detergent requires high temperatures for the enzymes and other chemicals to work in breaking down food proteins. By the time the dishwasher detergent gets to the grey tank the temperature is way too cold for these reactions to occur and the detergent essentially becomes inert to further dissolving proteins. Besides, the enzymes are probably already used up and no longer effective. Secondly, the detergent is so diluted once it gets into the grey tank it simply won't do anything.

MaverickBBD:

Yup, got one in our 08 model rig and NEVER USED!!
It's a great storage place for larger pots, pans and/or utensils though.

If you do a search of the forum for "dishwasher," you will find that there are a ton of people who have, use and LOVE their dishwashers. I have one, used it once to see if it worked and since then have used it only for storage. There are usually only me and the DW using our dishes and it doesn't seem to be much of an inconvenience to simply clean up the dishes after using them before pursuing other activities. But, for active (or extremely sedentary) RVers who don't have the time (or inclination) to clean up the dishes before pursuing other activities, being able to store and wash a full day's dirty dishes has some very real advantages. So, I guess it depends on your individual situation as to whether or not having a dishwasher would be advantageous.

We have a Kitchenaid DishDrawer. We like it and use it every day. It's no different than a DishDrawer installed in a house. Do I think it helps with cleanliness of the gray tank? No

Had one in my 2005, because of improper installation, water would back up into the drawer and whenever I unplugged from electricity it would automatically unlock the drawer and if I forgot to reset the lock the door would fly open at the first turn. Fixed the water situation by making a bigger arc in the drain hose, but it still made the paper plates soggy, removed it and put in a wine cellar.

Have never used the dishwasher in the 3 years of having a MH. Would rather have the cabinet space. Would not order a new MH with one in it. We store our vitamins and goodies in it. With just 2 of us we do not have many dishes as I hate to cook. The DW.

Its 43 degrees now with the wind blowing about 22 MPH. Its cold. Yesterday was a really nice day and my husband and friends went out in the boat and Air Chaired (Hydrofoil waterski) and bragged about how nice it was.
