On the hottest day of the year my front A/C-heat pump is acting up! And of course it's Friday after 5PM so NO ONE is at home at Dometic, Newmar or any other service center for that matter.

We came home to the front A/C blowing HOT air. Of course I turned it off immediately. Then I looked and it WAS set on "Cool." After not being able to find anyone for service, I decided to turn it on again - making sure it was set on "cool" to see what would happen. Viola! It begins blowing cool air! So far, so good. After only minutes, I hear something "switch on or off" on the roof mounted unit and it begins blowing hot air again.

I've tried this several times with the same results. After sitting for 20-30 minutes I turn on the unit, it blows cold for a few minutes and then switches to blowing hot.

Any suggestions of what I can do? I've heard something about do a "reset" of the wall mounted thermostat/control. Something like holding two different buttons for a minute or so and then turning it off and back on. Does anyone know anything about this trick. (Something a Dometic tech had a service tech do while we talked on a 3-way phoncon regarding a warranty issue.)

Also, this unit was replaced last October, and I am still under the Newmar 3 year warranty (until 26 September - and I have an appointment at Camp Newmar that very week for a couple of other issues.)

After the unit was replaced, I started having some problems with it several months later and Newmar did something relating to an EMS card back in the engine compartment to fix that.

Any, ANY help will be greatly appreciated. It is supposed to hit close to 100 degrees here in the Portland, OR area tomorrow (Sunday 22 June.)

The "click" could be the thermal overload on the compressor. I would suggest you check the run and start capacitors and related wiring on the compressor.

Best I can remember is that capacitors have to do with electricity - and can "bite" you if you don't handle them correctly. That rules out my doing any checking. I'm just not comfortable around electrical connections - and I wouldn't know what to do if I did. Thanks RV Wizard. A "wizard" I am not. :&gt
