This is my first post. I own a 2003 Flagstaff 5th wheel which is like brand new. My husband broke his neck not long after buying it and we have not used it much sense. My problem is, the air conditioner will not blow cold air. The compressor comes on but no cold air. And when we do turn it on small white styofoam balls come out of the vents. My husband got on the roof and tried to recharge the air conditioner and it will cool for a while then quit. The dealers tell us to bring it to them and let them replace the whole thing. Does anyone know of anything else we could try to make this ac work? My grandson is going off to work and we are letting him use the camper to keep from paying high rent until he gets on his feet. He is just out of college and landed a job with Catapillar. I really need help with this ac, any ideas would be a big help. Thanks and this seems to be a really good site.

there appears to be a leak in the system if he recharged it and it was blowing cold and now not. It needs to go to a qualified AC service tech for repair.

Having worked on quite a number of RV A/Cs over the years as an AC tech, I have found that when you are talking the age of the AC and the problems in locating the leak plus repair/labor and charging it makes it cheaper in the long run to replace with a new more efficent unit. Normal warranty is aprx one year on entire unit and five years on the compressor. Had to follow my own advice and replace mine last year due to a leak in the condenser

On a 3 year old Forest River the A/C failed everything worked didn't cool. Rv dealer wanted $200 to remove and then cost of repair and then $200 to reinstall this exceded the cost of new unit. There is a pin connector and 4 bolts to remove comes to $100 per bolt to replace. Purchased a replacement took 1 hour to replace. This is my 3rd. 5th whl. trailer no A/C problems on the other 2 A/C The one removed was made in Mexico the replacement made in China. Hope this isn't a trend starting. ken
