Scott, If you do feel heat on the backside of the ref. the temperature should be nearly equal on both sides (boiler and absorber) If boiler is hotter then it has a restriction. If the absorber (horizontal tubes) is hotter then the unit has developed a leak. If you see a yellowish powder this is also evidence of a leak. In any case a new cooling unit would be required. I woould contact Dometic and complain that this should not be happening on a refrigerator that is only 4 years old. See if they will at least supply the cooling unit at no charge. You sthen would have to pay for the labor. Let me know if I can be of any further help.

Scott,
I had a similar problem with my Dometic and it turned out to be the thermistor. It cost me $15.00 for the part and 5 minutes to install it.

Scott, I still recommend you call the mfg of teh ref. and coomplaint that this is only a few years old and it should not be having this problem. You may get luck and save a lot of money. Good luck.

Scott, RV Wizard is correct. Often times people don't call the factory because something is out of warranty. You may be lucky and they will replace anyway. I know, I just got a refund from Onan on my generator that was out of warranty.

Dometic won't help, to far out of warranty, seems these things just don't last too long. I am considering putting a small residential unit in, with an inverter, we usually camp with full hookups other than races. much cheaper than repalce the unit, (I will have to replace before any trade in, but that won't happen anytime soon)

Scott, I am sorry to hear that Dometic will not help you out on this. I will keep my eyes open for a good cooling unit for you if you will send me the model #.
