Dometic fridge automatic switching

Occasionally, our Dometic side by side, refrigerator/freezer (Model # NDR 1292) will not automatically switch from A/C to propane. When this occurs, the CHECK light is lit up and we have to turn the fridge completely OFF, then ON again, for the burner to ignite. When the burner ignites, the fridge works perfectly. As I said, this only happens occasionally.

Has anyone else had this problem with the fridge controls? And how was it fixed?

I have the smaller 2-door Dometic. Mine was "fixated" on Propane & not switching to Electrical. Seems... I had inadvertently pressed the "Switch-over" button while cleaning the face. [Thereby deactivating the AES auto-select function.] Does your model have this 2nd button as well?

Larry, how long has it been since the gas burner assembly be service and cleaned on the refrigerator? It may not be a fault of the controls but of the ability for the fuel air mixture to be flowing properly to ignite in the time frame allowed by the controls. You can unplug the refrigerator at the back while you observe the switchover and the igniter should only have to arc once if everything is in god working order to lite the burner. If it has to try many times there could be air in the LP gas line that needs to be purged or you have another issue that needs attention. It may take three to five seconds before the switch over is activated, so be patient; it is not immediate.
