You should be able to depress the light switch with the door open and tell if it is staying on. The switch will be somewhere along the outside edge of the compartment where the door will actuate it when closed. The switch may be defective.

I had the same problem until I changed to a LED bulb the begining of last summer and it still works.

You could put a small child in the fridge to tell if the light goes out.

Or set your phone cameral on video and put it in, close the door. I agree, put an LED bulb in to last longer, but I'd still check that the push button switch is actually working.

Does your Dometic fridge have a switch on control panel for 'high humidity' conditions or 'LAT' or something similar? Some reports that when it is ON the light stays on inside.

it's been a long time since I ever had that turned on but it's on now and yes the light stays on all the time.

Thinking about it now one of the benefits of the LED is supposed to be low heat output so it may not work very well in this case.

What was the bulb type. My light calls for a 10 watt G2 base. Is the led the same?

The light in my dometic is 9 years old.. No problems.. I do not often put it in LAT mode (Fridge does not have that switch but I never let a little thing like that stop me from making it work) (Think I used that mode one time, likely last winter) but the light is 9 years old.

Job today was replacing a couple of 1156s with LED's and populating a pair of empty sockets (Well one had a BOB in it, (Burned out bulb)) with LED's. Got the 10 pack today... Once I get all 10 in it's gonna be a long, long, time before I need to change a light bulb in this RV again, at least not those sockets.

Sorry but I no longer have the number, I just put two in my closet with that style base and just bent the tabs a little closer to make them fit.

I just defrosted it after questioning about it and it does not seem to help in preventing frost so I guess I'll wire in another incadesant bulb with a bayonet style base in there when I get some time
