Dometic Fridge Problems

Hi,

New to the site and had a question. I think I'm getting the run around from my service/dealer location. I have a fridge made by Dometic.

Model #NDR-1292
Serial #10300061
Side-by-side (non-stainless model)

Here is the question/problem:
When you turn the unit on, the "power" light comes on, the "Auto/AES" light comes on, the "Check" light comes on and the "Cold/Coldest" light comes on. The unit is trying to work on AC power and yet the check light is on. The dealer I bought the used 2001 Damon Intruder from says that is normal operation. "Anytime the unit is on AC power, the check light will be on. Once the unit starts on gas operation and lights correctly, the check light will disappear." as quoted by the dealer.

Any help the members can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thank You
Scott

That is what I was thinking also. Are there any service manuals online that I can use to check the problem?

Thanks

Nope, dealer is wrong. Check light only comes on when there is a problem.

LP Check light

The check light does not come on when there is a problem, it only means your unit failed to light on LP Gas. The check light is a way the refrigerator alerts you that the unit, while on the Auto mode has gone through all opertional heat sources with first being AC, if AC not present to refrigerator PC board will automatically goto the LP mode. If this last mode of LP gas does not light the warning light comes on..It is not a problem light it's a warning light of no heat source available. If your check light comes on while AC is present in the AUTO mode or comes on instance each and every time you turn on the refrigerator you have a bad PC board.
The NDR1292 used 2 different PC board an the wrong one may have been installed. The 2 boards used are not inter changeable.

Thanks to everyone for your replies. I've downloaded the .pdf for the manual. (Thanks Sammie) I'm going to try to fight the dealer. They told me they were going to make sure it was right before we bought it and now they are lying. Imagine that. Thanks again, Cross your fingers.!
