Dometic Ice Maker Leaking

I am trying to get our RV ready for a trip, after two years and I have a leak from the icemaker inside the freezer. The fridge is off, and the ice maker bail is up, which I assumed would shut it off and keep water from coming in.

Since water is coming in with the icemaker bail up and the frig off, does that mean the solenoid valve is bad? I assume that you have to have power to the solenoid to let water in, but I could be wrong. It has happened before.

Thanks in advance,

Hack

With the bail up and power off, I would have to say the solenoid valve is stuck open.

Second.

Procedure: Use the shut off valve in the supply line to cut off water flow

Call Camping world to price new solenoid

Change underware

Go online to E-Bay and find any old ice maker soleniod for a tiny fraction of the proce Camping world wants for an OEM..

Order it

I think I paid 27 bucks for an AMANA solenoid to replace mine last time. (About 100 less than CW wanted for a Dometic)

There are basically only 4 solenoids, and a couple hundred mounts (intergrated)

All Solenoids have quarter inch compression outlets.. Some have 3/4" garden hose type inlets *Usually the male end is on the solenoid* These come with an adapter which has the quarter inch compression fitting. so they work just fine. The rest come with quarter inch compression inlets like the one you have now.

The other split is single or double stage.. Dometic uses a single stage, just an on/of valve, nothing about it is special.. The AMANA I have is a 2 stage, the first stage I BELIEVE is a pressure regulator.. What this means is I get the same size ice cubes no matter if I'm on pump water, city water, high or low pressure, Always get uniform results. I consider this to be a very good thing.. I did have to adjust the cube size adjuster however.. All the way to the maximum setting.

And I saved 100 bucks on the part.\

One last thing.. The mounting.. They (All but the OEM) come with an assortment of mountinig adapters.. I did have to drill one hole for a screw.
