Dometic Icemaker

We have the Dometic model 1404 two door refrigerator that dispenses ice/water in the door. It has stopped making crushed ice. The auger runs ok but it puts out cubes in the crushed mode. Called Dometic tech support and got the dreaded "never heard of that one before". Any ideas?

Afraid I've never SEEN that one before (That model of fridge) So I can not help you

Would have to see it. If it's not putting out crushed ice, the crusher is not working.

Well, either the cubes aren't going through the crusher or the crusher isn't working. I've never seen the innards of that model, so don't know how to tell you to isolate the problem. A look at the mechanism ought to give some idea of where to start, though.

Remove the ice bucket and ice to view if there is a flap that is actuated by a solenoid to force the ice trough the knives for crushed ice selection. If so, the solenoid, wiring, switch and mechanism is all that is to this feature. Let us know what you find.
