I'm hoping its not the cooling control system but for the last few days the refer is not cooling properly. I've moved/adjusted the thermistor, checked level, checked vent from top and bottom. The fins on back inside wall have been heavily frosting for a few months. Every few weeks ill manually remove the buildup. It hasn't frosted for the last week or so, only what seems to be condensation. Also, we haven't had any days above 80 or so in that time period. The freezer box is covered in ice. I'm hoping defrosting that will make the refer cool properly. I let it run over night on gas and the temps were noticeably cooler as ive yet to get a thermometer. Any thoughts, other than saying "open the wallet for a new cooling unit" are invited 😡

Howdy

Unless you are opening the doors very frequently, sound like you may have leaking door seals.
Frost on the fins is a sure fire reduction in cooling capacity, and a sign air is seeping into the unit.
Try the dollar bill test around the seals. Close a bill in the door seal, and it should be tough to pull out. If not, the seals may be failing.
I have the same model frig, and the seals are starting to give out on mine.
Not sure if the seals are still available, but they may need to be replaced.

Luck,

Bob

I have the same refer that is 10 years old. When my freezer frosts up and the fins in the refer have frost on them the unit will not cool right. I defrost it and things are normal again for a few days again. Just got back from an 7 week 8000 mi trip and I defrosted the unit 1 time. Check your doors seals with a paper or dollar bill. Try to keep them pliable. I have used the same stuff I use on the slide rubber seals with some success. Hope you can save your old unit. I sure don't want to change mine out yet as it seems to be working well after I got the thermistor adjusted to the right position thanks to my friend in Wellington, Fl. good luck with this one..

Got a chance to check things out again today. Turns out there was a chunk of the gasket missing on bottom line. About 2" worth of the magnetic core gasket wa damaged. Cut it out and placed some window foam gasket in to test it out. Turns out that may have been where a fruit fly issue a few months back was originating from. Fingers crossed!! Thanks

Well, the rigged up gasket is not seeming to help. Haven't been able to get a thermometer as of yet but the good ol beer bottle to the cheek test says its cooling but not well. I'm really hoping the cooling unit isn't shot
