Our 9 year old Norcold refrigerator (model N821) just leaked it's ammonia charge and quit cooling. At first we blamed it on the cat litter box, but when the temp rose to 50 degrees I realized it was the refrigerator. Which brand is better, Norcold or Dometic for replacement? Any suggestions on where to buy a new one in Central Florida? I can install it myself with some lifting help. Any help is appreciated.

Martin, I have owned both makes been lucky I guess and never had problems that were major.
My first coach had for 8 years and it had a Dometic now have a 1200 Norcold for 6, both brands have had their problems over the years so its hard to decide, price may be a consideration. This LINK will help you there bought my electric steps from them at a good price.
Have you considered just changing the cooling coils?
Good luck and be careful on the change out.

Would you by chance be a member of Camping World? They usually keep this size unit in stock so you would not have to wait on shipping and/or pay extra for the shipping. Good luck and keep us posted.

Which is better - Ford or Chevy? I'm sure you will get a lot of opinions.
If it were me, I would select the one that has the features I want and which fits in the same opening that the old one occupied.

Thanks for your input, we ended up with the Norcold N841 which appears to be a direct replacement for our old one. Found a guy on craigslist that could get a new one much cheaper than CW or any other source. Picked it up and just finished installing it. I had some small problems getting the old one removed because of Winnie's use of silicone in some awkward places, but it eventually came out.
Thanks for the help and opinions.
