Dometic Penguin II fan blower motor
One of my rooftop ac will not run the fan. I have removed the shroud and verified that it freely spins. I do not have an electrical diagram, but from what I have read, this is most likely a failed motor.
The part number I have is 14471.011, but I cannot find this anywhere online. Before I start calling RV dealers, I wanted to see if anyone has found an alternate part.
This is a 15k heat pump, model #651816HXX1C0-01.
Also, if anyone has experience with this symptom, let me know if I skipped a check of a critical component.

On some A/C units the start capacitor not only starts the compressor but also starts the fan motor. I'd rule that out before replacing the motor. You could bench test the motor and hook 120v directly to see if it works.

I hear the compressor start, but then it stops after 1 to 2 minutes. Not sure if that helps.
I am questioning the part numbers, they may have been superseded

I would test the 'Run' capacitor, if you have'nt already done so.

What is the proper test procedure?

You would have to google it. Believe you are looking for an Ohm reading between posts.
Mine was the hard start capacitor, and although I brought my multi-meter up there with me, it wasn't needed. The end of the capacitor where the wires hook up was blown right off!
There is steps you need to take to discharge a capacitor even with the power shut off to the unit, as a healthy capacitor does hold a charge!

The test procedure for testing a capacitor is:
Using a multi-meter set on the ohms (resistance) position, touch the red lead to one of the terminals on the cap, touch the black lead to the other, or center terminal (if it is a 2-way cap it will have 3 terminals, the center terminal is common to both).
You should see a "moving" reading. Meaning that it will start out small numbers and get larger or vice versa.
Then switch the leads on the terminals and you should see the reading move in the opposite direction.
A capacitor is kind of like a battery that can be discharged all at once. It will store electrical energy and give the motor a boost upon startup, after startup it is usually taken out of the motor circuit.
What you are really looking for is an open (no continuity), or a short (no resistance at all), that would indicate a failed cap. Other indicators to look for would be visual. If it is a plastic case, it is cracked anywhere? If it is a metal case, has it expanded to where it looks bloated?
If you see the reading on your meter move up and down as explained at the beginning, your cap is good to go.
Hope that helps, been doing facility maintenance for 38 years.

The top of a large capacitor is flat. If it bulges up, it disconnects from the contents inside. Any bulge is a sign of a bad capacitor. Be careful, make sure it is discharged before getting near it or it'll knock you down.

Had a tech out today and the fan blower motor is the problem.Frustratingly, I had told him this was the case and not to come without one.
He arrived and performed the same tests I did, and determined it was bad. He then let me know he cant get one and it's best to replace the whole unit, which he did not have either. This was after assuring me he was the largest stocking dometic dealer around and always had every part.
I ended up paying a $45 fee for the nothing. Tomorrow we are headed to LA California, and will try to get a repair there. Can't imagine the weather being much worse than here in Williams AZ, and the coach is very comfortable with the other 2 ac's.
