Faye,
The sheet metal recall was for some body builders that did not vent the fridge properly (usually when in a slide). The second recall is to prevent FIRES. Lots of info on the web, but you should open the lower access door on the outside and make sure that you have no leaks. I do this on my monthly check (battery water, fluids, tires, A/C filters, etc.). Here is a link that should explain it in more detail:
Oemy's Web Site - Dometic Refer Recall
We had the second, but not the first in our 06' Bounder with the fridge in the slide. However, a friend with the same model 06' as ours did have the problem with his. He fixed his himself, he opened the top access panel on the outside and you could see where the heat had discolored the ceiling inside over the fridge. Our 06's were built in different plants so we did not have a problem.
Bob

Installation of the fire extinguisher is a wise move, there have been too many instances of fires from RV refrigerators to ignore the danger.
The cost is approximately $175 and the peace of mind is priceless.

Here is a TSB for Dometic recall and what is done. TSB takes a while to load.
The recall has been increased to Sept-06

this is a flat piece of sheet metal they put in and it is facing the vent door not up to the ceiling. do you think they placed that in the right place.
the day we went to pick up this mh, the refrig. was turned on and something blew up in the back and the rv service said they had to replace the cooling unit. would this have corrected this second fire problem?
thanks

Faye,
There is no way for me to be sure, but with having "something blew up", I would be inclined to take it to a different service center and have them verify that the recall work was done correctly. Should not cost anything after explaining the situation to them. Better safe than sorry.
