Dometic refrigerator problem

This is probably old news but I just found out about this. My refrigerator quit working, so checking with repair facilities and on line, I found it had a recall on a possible leak. Since it no longer works, they they will not install the recall kit. Has anyone found if the manufacturer will cover the cost of repairing the cooling unit sinced it was caused by their weak spot in the burner section. Unfortunately, it is out of warranty and I never recieved notice of the recall. Everything I found online is referenced to a possible fire and nothing about repairs.

The refrigerator recalls are for a safety modification only. They do not repair any problem of functionality. Have you diagnosed the problem with it?

Thanks for the response, yes I have diagnosed the problem. There is a leak at the point where the recall fix was suppose to be. Found a yellow residue at the burner area and there was a strong ammonia smell. I have ordered a cooling unit and am going to replace it.

I'm having the same problem. How do you replace the cooling unit? What kind of dollars are we talking about?

This may not be your fridge but installation will be similar.
Most people maybe using the Amish cooling unit because of how its built and warranty of 5 years and recalls are not necessary.
The new units will come with instructions & material.

Thanks "007", I hope I didn't order too hastly. I got mine from RV Cool out of Arizona. I'll see how this goes before I start on my sisters refrig. She has the same problem. Heck, maybe I will get good at replacing these units and hire out my services. Then again maybe not.

Got the new cooling unit installed and working great. Took a little longer than expected but I am a little picky on how things go together. I would recommend having some aluminum tape on hand and take pictures before you remove the old one. By the way, this one I bought was from RV Cool out of Arkansas. Cost was $480 plus shipping. Might consider RV Cooling warehouse if I had to do another. They offer $100 rebate when core is returned.
