Dometic Refrigerator Temperature Adjustments

So I'm a little confused which is my natural state, but maybe you can help.

I have a Dometic RM 7732 refrigerator.

That may not really be germane to this question.

This is what my control panel looks like.

It says in the operating instructions to adjust the temperature in the refrigerator by "Press the TEMPERATURE SELECTOR button (3) untilthe lamp at the desired position is illuminated."

There is also a decal inside the refrigerator next to the thermistor that indicates that by sliding the thermistor up or down you can control the temperature (this is not the inside of my refrigerator).

Can someone explain to me the differences?

Your fridge has an adjustable thermostat........upper panel 1-5 (5 coldest)

Thermostat uses a 'sensor' to control temps. That sensor is the 'thermistor' that is in the plastic clip attached to fin in food section.

MINOR temp adjustments (4*F-6*F overall affect) can be achieved by moving thermistors position
Move it UP for COOLER
Move it DOWN for LESS COOLER

So "major" adjustments to temperature in the refrigerator can be made on the front panel, and "minor" adjustments can be made by sliding the thremistor up for cool and down for warmer inside the refrigerator.

Have you heard of "Snip-The Tip"

It is supposed to be a thumb wheel adjustable thermistor. You snip off the original thermistor and replace it with this

Is this a gimmick, or worth the $27.00 they want for it?

If OEM Thermistor failed then it is a viable OPTION for replacement.
Otherwise no need

It has not failed, so I will leave it alone.

Thanks
