Dometic RM1350 Door Hinge

Hi guys, I need a little information.

About an hour ago we arrived at our destination only to open the refrigerator door and have the lower hinge brake. DH was able to get the door back in place and secure, but now we need to look into getting it repaired.

My question is the hinge or pivot, part of the frame or a separate piece?

Any help is appreciated!!

Thanks, we have that doc......it's beginning to look like the piece that broke is part of the door itself. The trim along the bottom.
I wonder what a new door will cost?

And here I thought only Norcold had this problem. I currently don't have any hinge issues, nor do I want any. I just ordered the Norcold reinforcement (Norcold calls it an "anti-sag" hinge kit) kit to do both doors which will hopefully alleviate any future door hinge problems I may have encountered.

Perhaps Dometic has a repair kit for this or at worst the door will have to be replaced. It may be worth a call to dometic and vent a little. I've found that process sometimes financially aids with the repair or replacement.

Good luck

Update: a whole new door is needed......$370 + tax + shipping + installation! All for $.15 worth of plastic that should have been metal to begin with, to support the weight of the door, plus the weight of the wooden panel cabinet matching insert and anything you place in that door!!! A major design flaw!!

Next email is to Dometic!

Before completely throwing in the towel and replacing the door, I would try the same repair tactic another forum member has tried with a similar problem on a Norcold door and he succeeded. He glued everything back together using the epoxy "JB Weld". According to his last post the repair has held, and continues to hold. A $5.00 investment in this epoxy is worth the gamble if it works for you. Here's a link to the thread.

Way too many and they are way too tiny to do that and to be honest I don't think I have them all. A couple of trips ago the door started to need to be gentle lifted to close correctly.....it was trying to tell us something then. I'm sure there are pieces in the vacuum. Thanks for the thought though.
