The day before yesterday my a/c started malfunctioning. When I would turn the unit on it would run fine until it cycled off. At this point the fan would stop but the compressor would keep running and eventually trip the breaker. I would reset the breaker and this scenario would repeat itself and I finally just turned the system off. Yesterday I decided to look at it again (thinking perhaps it was a contact sticking) but now the compressor wont start. When I lower the thermostat to start the unit I no longer hear it "click". Any suggestions would be most welcome.

For now I remain Hot and Confused in south Louisiana.

What model A/C do you have, ducted, non-dusted, type thermostat. I had a similiar problem a few years ago and it was the control board in the units.

Ken,

Thanks for the response. THe unit is a 15000 btu, ducted with a four button duo-therm thermostat. I pulled the circuit board last night and found a lot of moisture in it. I dried it with compressed air and then baked it at 120 degrees for about two hrs to remove any concealed moisture. The board ohmed out fine and there was no apparant damage so I reinstalled it. The unit works fine now. My next step will be to seal the box that contains the circuit board to prevent future problems with moisture.

Doug
