Duo Therm rooftop AC cycling frequently

My Duo Therm rooftop AC unit (circa 1984) successfully starts the compressor and begins blowing cold air. After about a minute, the compressor turns of and the fan just runs for around 5 minutes. Then the compressor turns back on for a minute then back to just fan for a few minutes. Over and over.

I've turned the thermostat all the way to cold, and tried it on both the Low and High A/C settings.

Is it a thermostat issue?
Is it low on coolant?
If it is suspected to be low on coolant, is there a way I can test this?
If it is low on coolant, is this something that I can have recharged, like in automobiles?
Is it something else?

Welcome mrstevec to irv2.
Have you had the cover off the AC remove it and look for a long tube sensor make sure its clean of dirt may find of evaporator coils or near entrance to air discharge
under interior cover.
If you VAX the AC it just might work better.
As to service a good AC Shop would be best bet for service.

On a unit of this age , it could have a bad thermo-disc on the compressor. They are not much in cost and labor should only be .5 hr.
