Our Duo Therm (have no idea what model doesn't say anywhere) rooftop with analog thermostat click on and off with switch off, so shut off breaker. stopped it for a couple days would have to turn on breaker to use a/c. Now last night it kept clicking (no fan this time) with breaker off. Have read something about a reversing valve possibly but no info on what it looks like or where it's located? Any help would be appreciated. Oh it's on a 2004 Weekend warrior, rooftop, heater below.

The controls of the air conditioner are 12 vdc. Be sure the wiring at the thermostat is not loose or shorting out to cause the relays on the control board to open and close. If you eliminate the T'stat and it continues, check to be sure the wiring at the ceiling assembly has good connections and not shorting out. If you eliminate both and it continues then the control board is bad.

Turn the breaker off disconnect the thermostat wiring at the ac make sure none of the loose thermostat wires touch each other or anything else turn the breaker on if the a/c doesnt click it is either the wiring or the thermostat the roof top ac should be idle nothing running no noise. If it is either the thermostat or wiring go to hardware store get phone wire with enough wires and long enough to wire thermostat directly to ac, still clicking? Bad thermostat. No clicking bad wiring. Remember always take pictures and write down wiring before disassembly!!!

Your rooftop unit will not have a reversing valve unless it is a heat pump. If it a heat pump the reversing valve is under the cover up on the roof. Dont believe this to be the issue though.

The model number info is usually INSIDE the Air Conditiner, You may need to remove the inside panel to see it. The reason for this is they come in two versions, Ducted and non-ducted, and thus the top part (Where your problem is) is common to both, so it has it's own make and model and serial sticker.
Where it is, I can not tell you.
As to the clicking.. Yes, I agree it's a 12 volt side issue.

If you remove the interior cover off of the ac and you look between the itake and return holes on the bottom of the a/c there should be a decal with all needed info. Make sure you check thermostat and wiring as described above not saying its not a control box in a/c but watched a guy put 3 a/c's on a roof over a bad ground to thermostat.
