Hi
I have installed a 12 volt DVD player in my conversion van. The problem is that there is very little sound output. Is is possible to add an amplifier in the audio output lines between the DVD player and the television? The lines go from the DVD player into the television then out to the speakers in the rear of the van.

Hi Walk,

I'm a little puzzled regarding the hookup and just wanted to clarify it.

The dvd player may have multiple types of outputs. I'm guessing you are using the simple stereo outputs which typically are red and white RCA jacks. Those connections should go to the Television red and white audio input jacks.

You may have to select in the TV setup menu that you are using the appropriate audio input jacks. Usually, the audio output from the DVD player are at "line" level and should not require any additional amplification. It could be possible that the input isn't selected properly.

Does the sound come out of the actual TV speaker, but just not from the external speakers in the van?

Yeah
I figured it would be confusing. The sound (and video) come out of the DVD player through RCA jacks. I have them plugged into the video1 input
in the rear of the television. When I plug the RCA jacks from the VCR into video1 the sound is normal. There is a setup menu on the DVD player and I have adjusted the settings with no results.

Do you have input jacks on your VCR? You might try routing the DVD player throught the VCR to experiment and see if that works differently.

Also try a different set of cables. Sometimes bad cables can cause unpredicatable problems.
