My exterior door latch broken so can not open door from outside. Luckily we had open window so could climb into the RV and open door from inside. I heard this was problem with others so always leave window unlocked.

I called Winnebago this morning and they were of little help. I know this has happened to several others in the past and figured Winnebago would recognize the problem and have suggestions as how to fix. Naught! I went to Winnebago "Parts diagram" but it does not show the latch assembly very clear so can see if mine is correct.

I completely disassembled and can not find anything that looks amiss.

I am at the FMCA rally in Brooksville now. Hopefully I can find a mechanic who can figure it out. If I can get some info from someone who has had the same issue and fixed it maybe of help.

Try Winnebago, Itasca, Era New - Used Motorhomes for Sale, Iowa RV Dealer - Lichtsinn Motors for W/I parts.

Had a door latch break on last MH and had to replace the whole latch. Ordered the new one from factory, much cheaper. Should have got pictures of me (65) going in and out of window, DW said I really looked funny!

The latch-paddle engages a small tab in the mechanism that got bent or loose over time and disconnected the latch from everything. I tried to bend it up a little but the metal cracked (would not bend). It works fine for now but will surly break in time. I called Trimark and they will not repair. She said I have to purchase the whole latch assembly (both the inside mechanism and the out side with the and locks).
Thanks for all your help. I am home now and will get another latch asembly.

Newelri, my wife is 70, she was a riot, skirt and all, climbing in window at Hess station.

We were in Reo Grand valley last winter and DW could not get out either, lock broke inside. It was much cheaper from factory, we spent a couple of days with a ball point pen holding door closed. When she called and said door would not open I thought your kidding, oops she was right!
