Fan-tastic fan fuse holder replacement

What is required to replace the fuse holder body and cap ?
Can it be done from the inside vs outside ?

Fan is in the bathroom, rain sensor, thermostat type, and the fuse holder is black with a push and turn (with flat blade screwdriver) black cap that holds the fuse located in the fan housing on the inside.

If we hold up on the cap all is well but when we let go the fan (and lid cover) looses power. Tried cleaning, pulling out the spring in the cap to no avail.

Will call the company sometime today or tomorrow.

The fuse holder in the fan in the kitchen is a grey different style that works fine. Its on a similar style fan except the controller switch and knob is different. Both 1999 vintage but have no model numbers so that would help as well to know before contacting co. Will try to put up pics as well soon.

Haven't been on the roof to look on the fan motor for model #'s yet.

Call 1-800-521-0298 - That is Fantastic Fan's number. They are well known for great customer service. Talk to them and they can help you figure out what you might need to do to fix it completely.
They actually replaced our whole fan for free to update one part that was broke and we just paid a few dollars for mailing.

Should be an easy replacement and available at auto parts stores, Radio Shack or even Walmart in auto section. Can definitely be done from inside. I added the reversing switch to mine in about 15 minutes.

Thanks John.
But how do I get at it from the inside ?
Do the 4 screws in the base (not trim ring) allow the plate to be lowered with the cover motor and knob ?
I have taken off the round screen before but that's all so far.

I am mechanical and can get a fuse once access is obtained.
Just don't want it falling apart in pcs if I start removing the inside screws.

Still needing some help on the fan fuse holder replacement. Does anyone have an exploded view (or pictures) in the area behind the inside cover mounting plate ?

Thanks in advance

Here is a link

Fantastic Fan Exploded parts Diagram

It is very simple, just unscrew it from the ceiling. The fuse holder mounts to frame next to the speed switch.

Here is a link that tells you how to remove the fan for cleaning or repair

When I replaced the fuse holder on mine I removed the square trim "box, the screen and the screws that hold up the fan mechanism. In my case the wires allowed the fan motor to drop several inches and then kept the fan motor from falling. From there I was able to remove the fuse holder and put in the new one. Since you are working on the bathroom fan I'd suggest making sure the lid on the toilet is down and the sink drain covered. Not a hard nor time consuming project.
