I got in tonight and the freezer was at 23 deg. And the refrigerator was at 50 deg. It is at night and about 100 deg outside. I have not been home or opened the box since May 11. I have very little in the refrigerator.
I have tomorrow off before I head back out on the road. I have not figured out where to get a thermostat but would it be OK to just mount 2 of the computer box fans and leave them running. It’s not like it will cool down anytime soon in Phoenix.

Take a look at this thread just what you are talking about.
No problem just installing two or one fan have a switch on feed with fuse and can feed off 12v wire block at base of fridge.

Norcold just replaced my two year old refer which had burnt a hole in the heat exchanger, (we came close to having a fire) it had the high limit safety that was supposed to prevent it. I have mounted two external fans, and have ordered a 140 degree fan switch.

Going to make a trip to Radio Shack and see what I can rig up.
Also looks like I need to order a seal kit for the Thetford, won’t hold water.

It’s me again.
I bought 2 of the 4” fans but not sure where to mount them, on top under the vent or in the back at the bottom? The bottom would be easier for now because the 12V lugs are right there. Also I found a thermostat. I found a new RV shop on my side of town and had them order the one that Norcold uses. $12.00 plus tax.

Refrigerator vent stack fans should be mounted near the top. Download the service/installation manual here: Aero-Rv.com - Aerolite Ultra Lite RV Travel Trailer and Expandable Hybrid Campers You may buy muffin fans off the internet for $3-4, a 3 gang fan unit is around $6 + shipping of course. Search the net for them.

Buy one or two the little 4" muffin fans from Radio Shack or salvage one from an old computer. Easy to pick up 12VDC power on the back of the frig and wire it to a On-Off switch with a pilot lamp. The fans are more efficient when mounted at the top of the stack. Pick up a piece of aluminum or steel angle iron from the hardware store and use some self tapping screws to install the fan mount.

I just attached them to a small strip of oak I had and set them in the bottom with a slight tilt up and used an old toggle switch to turn them off. Plan on leaving them on while I am gone. Will mount them on top when I have more time and it is not 115 :( out side. I had the RV store order a temperature switch that Norcold uses and will add that when I get the time.
