Fantastic Fan lids goes up but fan doesn't turn (sometimes)
My fantastic fan is having intermittent problems. I turn it on at the thermostat, the lid goes up and lately occasionally the fan doesn't spin.
I take the screen off and spin the blade with my finger, it will eventually start and works fine.
Seems to need a good cleaning or the electric motor is starting to fail?
Any help would be appreciated.
Keith

We had the same thing. It was the fuse…not blown, just not tightly set in place. Push up on the black fuse button on the fan. Or remove the fuse & reinstall.

On mine the pin switch was bad. The pin pops up when lid is opened to allow fan to turn on...easy fix. Located on forward edge of fan box.

When ours did that I called Fantastic Vent and they told me to take a 7/8" wrench up and tighten the switch nut. Did that and never had any more trouble. Seems they corrode and then can't make contact through the threads.
Also, take some 303 and use it on the rubber gasket. They rubber sometimes sticks to the lid after being closed for a while, I also sprayed some on the lid, both inside and outside.

Yes, check the little plunger switch up top. It is likely either stuck in the down position, or like mine, the wire might be loose.

Most likely it is the pin switch that is located on top of the frame. The lid presses on the switch when it comes down and releases the switch when it goes up. Remove the screen to access the switch, spray a little WD40 on the switch, press the switch down and let it snap back up by removing your Finger quickly, do this several times in order to clean the contacts inside the switch. Fan will work again.

Don't climb up there with the 7/8" wrench. It is too big. Think it is 7/16" but I can't remember. When I go up on my roof to work on the pin switch I take several small wrenches so I don't have to climb back down. I also take a Phillips screw driver so I can release the lid to make it easier to get to the pin switch.
