When filling the tank after only a small amount of water fills, water starts coming back up the fill hose.

Any ideas how to remedy this?

Thanks Eh!

Unit is a Big Horn 5er.

make sure the vent line is clear. It should exit at a small hole near the fill and vent air as you fill the tank.

If it gets clogged or crimped or otherwise constricted, it won't vent air and the fill will 'bubble back' and make filling the tank difficult. You can try to clear it by shoving a wire or something flexible but reasonably stiff down the vent line. Just be careful and make sure your wire doesn't have a sharp end so you don't harm the vent line.

Bad venting, kinked fill hose or fill hose running uphill to get to tank.
