Freedom 485 Inverter replacement

I'm thinking about replacing my Freedom 485 2000W modified-sine inverter/charger with a pure sine from Magnum or Outback.

The changeout would be much easier if I could use the existing remote control cable on the Freedom for a Magnum/Outback control panel (which I think is plain old RJ11 cord). I don't want to run a new cable from the back to the front of my RV.

Does anyone know if the Freedom 485 remote cable is RJ11?

I have been having problems with my 458 w/Link 1000. Quickest and cheapest fix would be the "phone cable". Picked up a 25', 3-line (6-wire) phone cable at Staples. Did not fix problems, but it still had the same symptoms. Tried using a 6-wire "data" cable from a charge controller remote and nothing worked.

If all else fails, I think the only difference is on the Phone line the connector are connected strait through, and on the data line the one connector is flipped, so you could cut the line and install a new connector flipped over.

Get a good magnifier and check the color scheme. Phone line would be the same on both ends, referenced from the tab, the data line would be opposite.

I checked the web sites for both controllers and a 4-wire phone cable should be on the Freedom but not sure it will work on Magnum twisted wire cable is used so no interference over wiring to controller.
Tech, can you pull control off and see what cable you have.

I checked with Magnum and the Freedom 485 cable should work.
