Freedom Inverter Fix

A while back while camping I lost all shore and gen power to my 2002 National Tradewinds. The only thing charging the batteries was the engine. The only way to get 120v power to coach was to invert. There didn't seem to be a 120v pass thru. This weekend I had time to trace the problem down. I first started by metering the switcher to find I had 120v coming in on both gen and shore power circuits and also 120v going out from switcher. Next I metered all breakers and they checked OK. I then metered inverter input and got 120v and 12v DC at perspective posts. Output was 0. I removed the inverter, took cover off and checked the fuses. Although they both looked good and elements appeared to be in tact, I metered them and 1 was bad. I replaced them both, reassembled, and problem was solved. Within 4 hours of shore power to coach all lights on control panel were green, I had 120v without inverting and charge level was 13.5v.

No need to remove inverter from coach to check fuses. Simply remove the cover(about 12 screws on 3 sides) and look for the ends of the fuses on the green boards.

Thanks for the tip. I had issues with my same inverter. However, where mine is, I had to remove to get at the fuses. And of course they checked fine, and another problem. . 😠
