While we were 600 miles from home, we opened the fridge door and it fell off. The plastic in the bottom corner of the door that connects the door to the pivot point just cracked right off. We temporarily fixed it with heavy duty plastic glue, but as soon as we got on the road again, it cracked again. Any ideas? Our unit is only two years old, we're hoping that we can just get a whole new door, but how do we prevent it from happening again? It looks like all the weight of the door is right on that point.

What kind of a fridge do you have? 2 or 4 door? Fridges I have seen, whether 2 or 4 door, have a latch on the handle that carries the weight. Mine has aluminum "L" brackets that the door pivots on.

I would replace the plastic pivot point with a metal one, problem is, you might have to have one made.

For a quick fix till you find what you need can you turn the door over so it opens the other way, like they do with home refig. That way the weight will be on the unbroken hinge.

Our Dometic refrigerator door also came off due to the upper plastic hinge breaking. I used JB Weld, a two part epoxy, as a "temporary" fix and it has lasted over a year...so I'm just watching it and making a concerted effort not to lean on the door when I look into the refrigerator!

It appears to me, I would have to replace the entire door because the hinge is integral with the door.

LLonearth, welcome to iRV2.com. We are glad to have you join us here. Dometic's weak point were the door hinges untill recently. The door itself will have to be replaced if you do not modify a repair on your own. My dad used an "L" braket to help support his and that has been several years now. Today it looks like Dometic has reengineered this area well and I don't see it as being much of a problem now. GOod luck and keep us posted.
