SOLAR, FRIDGE DOG HOUSE ATTIC SHED MOTOR HOME RV, FAN

Found this on E-Bay
Has anyone used one of these, and if so, how do they hold up???

Specifically designed & built for Australian conditions.
Lift your fridge efficiency by as much as 40% by removing the hot air trapped in the cavity behind your fridge.
·Huge reduction of power consumption on your power system through lifting fridge efficiency.
·No battery required or drain on your power system.
·Thermostatically controlled to switch ON at 35C & remain on until the temperature drops to the 25C OFF position. This thermostatic control is ideal for Australian conditions plus it ensures the fan only operates when required, this extends to operating life & prevents the fan from sucking in cold air when you are located in cold conditions.
·Big fan size, 120mm (4.7”). Sure increases efficiency over the smaller 75mm models.

I hate it when people make wild claims like, "Lift your fridge efficiency by as much as 40% ". 40%!...I doubt it and that makes me doubt the whole thing. I admit that I am a sceptic. Happy Trails, Joe

For a lot less money you can get a higher capacity 12 VDC, computer muffin fan from Radio shack.

Thats a way high price, but the concept is solid for the right application. In my old popup, I installed 2 computer case fans in the top section behind the fridge along with a baffle to help direct the air. They pulled air over the cooling coils and moved the hot air out of that space. This had 2 effects on the camper. First, the fridge got alot cooler and ended up using less propane, as it cooled much more efficiently. Second, the counter top above the fridge no longer got warm and stopped melting my daughter's chocolate bars for smores.

I wouldnt be able to give a percentage of efficiency with the setup, as I took no baseline measurements before the fans were installed, but Ill tell you that the first weekend after I installed them, it was 85+ degrees and I only turned the fridge up to level 8 (out of 10) and it froze a dozen eggs, yolks and all.

I still have to look at the configuration of the fridge in my TT, but if it will allow for it, Ill be installing them in that too.
