Someone mounted it upside down. The two parts should be on opposite doors so gravity and vibration will not let it fall unlocked. With that said, you might try using a rubber band around the thumb lock and the striker plate to keep it from unlocking. It looks like stainless steel so a magnate won't work. Good luck and keep us posted.

That's kind of what I thought. I'll try remounting it since the bolts are just through the metal handle and not into the refrigerator itself. I guess the Monaco employees knew they were about to be laid off and didn't care if they did things right or not.

It may or may not be upside down. It should work fine in either direction. This is how ours is mounted and there is positive back pressure on the latch in the locked position that would prevent any amount of vibration from moving the latch. We have had it mounted that was for about 7-8 years without a single issue. It appears to me that the female side of the latch is just a bit too high and it may be preventing the latch from coming all the way over to the full latched position.

Oops, this will leave two ugly holes in fridge handle. Don't think the wife will go along with that. I can't afford to buy a new coach over this. Anybody else?

You could try adjusting the doors to where there will be enough pressure on the lock to not fall open; spread doors and align.

Doors do have more gap at bottom than at top. How do I spread top? Crowbar?
