We added two (2) fans that we got off e-bay to the inside of the fridge. Just go on e-bay and do a search for RV refrigerator fans. They will come right up. We get no ice forming on the fins and the fans keep the air circulating inside the fridge. We also added a fan in back of the fridge blowing upwards towards the roof, to assist in circulating the air and keeping that area cooler. This past summer it was in the 90's or better every day and we had no problem keeping things cold in the fridge.

Add two small 12v computer type fans to the fins- They work great.

Look at this thread.

Use Velcro, spread over two fins (where the four corners will locate), and small strips on the backside of the four corners of the fans. The alligator ground clip will attach fine to a fin. The Velcro gives you a cushioned mount and "stand-off" clearance for the grounding clip.

You could also do the "dollad bill" test. That's where you close the door(s) on a dollar bill and pull it around looking for a loose "seal point"- then repair it with a new door, or seal if available.

I would suggest taking the easy way out with the two fans.

Good luck,

Good luck,

similar fans are available at any computer supply store large or small (Best Buy etc they are auxillary cooling fans for coumputer hardware. Cheap and easy to install. Your light in the fridg has a hot lead to the fixture, the ground opens and closes when the door does) and you just tap into that so when you close the door the light goes out but the fan turns.

I installed one of these but haven't used it yet. Last trip we readly didn't have a cooling problem in the frig as much as cold and warm spots. Im sure the fan will help that. The major problem was with the freezer. We noticed the ice cubes from the ice maker would sometimes be wet and not frozen very well.

DW did notice once the door wasn't shut tight, so maybe that was it. I guess my question is, has the fans helped with any freezer problems?

not as much info on the freezer because the install is a bit more difficult w/o a handy source of power in there. The basic theory is it is a good thing to have the air move inside to distribute the cold equally throughout--I think modern home freezers do this.

I guess I didn't phrase my question properly. If anyone had a freezer problem, did adding the fans in the frig help cool the freezer better. But, after I think about that, it was a pretty dumb question anyway

Laugh... Yeah I remember that one. If anyone ever denies doing or asking something 'stupid', they got to be lying

Adding fans in refer will not make refer cool better. Cooling starts in freezer than goes into refer compartment. Putting them behind blowing up may. Look up behind refer should be able to see light from vent area. If not venting may be blocked. You have to get rid of the heat to cool. Check and make sure area above must be blocked off so heat can not stay there. And free space behind needs to be open.
