Front Coach A/C

Hi all..
Well it was bound to happen.. in the 90's yesterday in Colorado Springs campground and the front A/C decided to quit!
The fan shut off and will not run when the A/C is on... It runs fine when the thermostat is in fan only....The rear A/C runs just fine..
It is an original Heat Pump from 2004 a Duo Therm...
When we try the A/C the fan stays off and I can just hear a hum (Compressor)...?
Any Ideas? Would a bad start capacitor act this way?
If the worst comes to pass.. Is there a direct replacement available for these A/C that wouldn't require changing the thermostat and all?
Thanks as always for any help or ideas...
Ron
Currently in Steamboat ..

Lots of info on the forum regarding this subject--could be a number of things. Generally, the newer models of Dometic are not compatible with the older ones unless you swap out and modify the motherboard on the new unit. Get the serial numbers off the old units and call Dometic or PPL in Houston for details. Hard to find an A/C tech [$100+ per hour] that will work on these units--and given its a 12-year old unit, your really don't want to put a lot of money into the old unit......

Hi..
Thanks for the reply...
That is my feeling... Don't invest too much into it... But I can't get on the roof as my back is really, really bad and have to have a diagnosis...
