Carolyn welcome to irv2.
If your plugged into electric yes you can run your furnace the furnace will be running off your 12v from your converter & your batteries are also being charged.
If your batteries are at full charge your furnace can run off your batteries.
If your traveling your furnace will run off your batteries which are being charge by your engine alternator.
If your traveling and camped at a Cracker Barrel Restaurant your furnace can run off your batteries overnight and batteries will be recharged while traveling to next stop over.
Did that myself three nights on way to Florida last Jan.
