Furnace cycles too often

Just installed a new furnace in the old TT. We find it cycles way more than the old one (40 yrs old). Probably the type of thermostat we have is causing it? Any guesses?
Looking for a thermostat that works on a top temp for off then a separate lower temp for on or maybe a time delay from off to back on?
Found one for a heat pump system that has a 5 min delay back on Might give that a try.
Looks like the new furnace pumps more heat in a shorter time. Its an Everest
16K btu unit. Easy install.

Did you install a new thermostat?

Thermostat location, Is hot air from the furnace blowing on the thermostat or near a window where its exposed to cool air?

The thermostat I installed in mine also has the "delay" but I think its for an A/C unit. My thermostat only controls the furnace, it doesn't control my roof mounted A/C unit.

I replaced my old mechanical bi-metal with a modern digital. (I had trouble seeing the settings on the old one)

Should have an adjustable "anticipator" . Pop the cover off and check. You can adjust to many short cycles or increment to less but longer cycles.

No new thermostat and in looking at the unit I see a screw for the on contact just above the magnet that draws the contact together. Don't see how that could affect the cycle rate of the bimetal spring. Hmmm

If it has one, it most likely is a little pointer looking thing. I am surprised the new furnace didn't come with a new thermostat.
