I have a forced air gas furnace in the coach. Does it have to be plugged into shore power or the Genny running for the furnace to work?
If I am traveling in cold weather, I want the coach furnace on to keep the coach and the basement warm, can I do that without running the genny? My guess is probably not since the furnace blower is probably 110. Its an atwood furnace, in a 2003 fleetwood storm.

I believe your blower motor is actually 12vdc.

Furnace requires 12VDC to operate. They also require propane as a fuel source. You do not want to keep the furnace on when traveling. It is a big waste of fuel/battery, but probably would blow out as you drive down the road anyhow.

We run our propane furnace in cold weather while driving with no problem. As far as I know it's never "blown out", if it did the auto ignitor would just recycle and relight it.
If you don't use the propane furnace in cold weather and try to rely on the dash heater, it will be like riding in a large refrigerator on wheels, really cold.
On our motorhome the engine alternator will keep the batteries charged for the furnace.
Looking back at 450DONN's comment, if you were pulling a 5er or a travel trailer, it's probably not worth it because it's not occupied.

You need your furnace running while traveling in cold weather to keep your tanks and plumbing areas warm.
Furnace need 12V as all your other control boards in coach, fridge, hot water heater.
Have travel in 1* weather with out a problems for years.
