Just wondering if anyone has a furnace troubleshooting guide or flowchart.

I have a Suburban furnace in my '85 Fleetwood and the fan works every time but it only sparks sometimes and doesn't light.

Thanks in advance

I suggest you clean the unit as per the annual maintenance and inspect the furnace heat exchanger for any leakage, while it is on the bench. If you are not comfortable at doing this and checking for LP system leakage after reinstalling, then I suggest and recommend a qualified technician perform this for you.

I have a pdf file for the SF, NT series and DD-17DSI suburban furnaces that is titled "Suburban RV Furnaces Service Manual". It is dated 1998 and is Form No. 268. It does contain trouble shooting information. I just downloaded it this morning from a site that I now can't find. If you need a copy, pm me.

O.K so I spent some time on the furnace today, I have voltage at the board and at the valve. It is sparking but the spark seems to be weak and the burner won't light.

Any thoughts on where to go now??
What would cause the spark to be weaker than normal??

Thanks
Jeff

Hi Titan22,
It doesn't take much of a spark to ignite propane. Ensure the adjustment of the spark to the propane orifice is correct. Other than that do you have a good supply of propane getting to the spark? Can you hear the propane before it tries to ignite?

You need to dis-assemble the burner and clean the burner, electrode and heat exchanger. Adjust the gap of igniter if need be to about 3/16". Replace the gasket and bench test. Most likely after cleaning you will not have a problem. Keep us posted.

Thanks for the responses,

I can smell the propane but can't hear it do to the fan motor.

I will take it apart and clean everything and see how it goes.

Thanks again
