Furnace very very loud

In our brand new Keystone Cougar 5th wheel our furnace is extremely loud. In is a 37,000 BTU furnace made by Atwood. Is this normal and expected??? What can a service tech check for to quiet it down???

Your replies or suggestions for internet sites would be appreciated.

These furnaces are inherently noisy but you can mod yours to be quieter with sound proof insulation. Check out this article - Click me. This was the first mod I did to our Newmar Northern Star and it helped a lot. I've done this on my last two RV's as well (or at least a version of it). At least it doesn't wake me when it comes on at night. I used the dynomat insulation

Yes, noisy. We use electric heat whenever we have shore power. Gas furnace only when boondocking/dry camping. .

I talked to the owner of the 5th wheel. It seems that the burner makes the excessive noise. His camping neighbor, 20 - 25 feet away from the furnace exhaust, was awakened by the noise. They (his neighbors) thought that a motorcycle was idling outside their door.

My new friend is a proud new owner of a brand new 5th wheel and new to camping and didn't want to offend his neighbors for the next ten years.

The sound of the furnace burner is also excessive inside the Keystone 5er.

Sound insulation would work for inside but probably of little help for his neighbors. Am I right on that?

Way back in the day, I know that loud (sort of screeching) furnace burners could result from in incorrect flame adjustment. I think today's furnaces have fixed gas orifices but maybe the air adjustment might change the sound?

Loud as in the Burner ROARS like a jet engine or LOUD as in Blower noise

The first is a simple air/fuel ratio adjustment, 4 Screws then a Wing Nut and you can adjust it IF YOU KNOW HOW.. (I'm not going to describe how) IF you are not familiar with adjusting gas burners. I suggest having someone who is do it for you.
