Our brand new 2006 Itasca Meridian gas heater will not ignite. Had a technicion look at the heater unit and found the PC board good but it still doesnt work. Thought it might be the thermostat but didnt know how to test it.

Any suggestions?

We are on Vancouver Island with limited repair facilities available.

If the PC board tested good it must be getting 12VDC for power, so that issue is gone. Have you made sure LPG is getting to the burner? Is the gas valve opening? Have you ever smelled LPG at the furnace outside vent? Spyders love the odorant in LPG, one may have plugged the burner orfice, have you cleaned it? This is just a brainstorming thing, I don't mean to insult your abilities. Hope you find the problem soon.

It might help us to help you if you could describe exactly what is happening. Also knowing the make and mode of your heater is sometimes helpful. I, too, don't want to to insult your abilities but sometimes walking through the basics is important.
1. On your propane, does your stove light and burn a solid blue flame? You might want to run it for at least two minutes to make sure there wasn't air in the line.
2. When you turn the thermostat to heat and move the temperature setting to call for heat, do you hear the fan? The fan should kick on almost right away.
3. After the fan is on a few seconds to a minute, do you are a "snap, snap" noise? That would be the ignitor trying to start the flame. If you stand right at the exhaust for the furnance outside, can you get a wiff of propane?

If you can provide a little more information, maybe someone can help you get the furnace running.
