May have poor 12V battery connection or fuse termination from original location or a poor ground connection.
If its running OK with your new battery connection would say your fuel pump is OK.

If you are saying no current from generator when running that was why the fuel pump would not run after it started. If a generator is not generating current it shuts itself down which is why no power to fuel pump. Bad control board?

Without any model info there can be nothing specific.
Best I can do http://www.guardiangenerators.com/PublicPDFs/94468.pdf

The repair manual is specific to several models, hope one is yours.

Hooked up a container with gas in it and ran it straight to carb. ran good, then put hose back on carb from fuel pump. Would run and die. will check voltage from generator with fuel from container. Thanks fellows for the help Bob Semper Fi

When is the last time gas filter was changed on Gen?
You may want to check the Gen wire connections in transfer switch, while your at it check them all shore power cable and load center wiring cables.
There are some Generac links in 2nd post.
