The Kohler in my 1991 Itasca died last year and I've been searching for a reasonably priced replacement. Found a used Generac Impact 36G that came out of a food vending truck. Any thoughts, comments or experiences with or about the 36G or similar inverter style generators would be appreciated!

Thanks!!

If it came out of a commercial vehicle, it is probably ready to be retired. I would look at a salvage yard for a Onan generator if it were me.

Funny you should say that . . . I e-mailed the seller last night to set up an appointment to go Saturday (with my RV) to hook up and test it . . . he replied that he tested it knowing that I wanted to come down and the inverter part isn't operating properly . . . he dropped the price, but I'm bailing!

If I was more knowledgeable, I's consider your "salvage yard" advice . . . I'm just afraid I'll end up buying a hunk of scrap metal that's not worth repairing???

I guess I'm leaning towards this route:

RAMSOND SINEMATE 2500 W INVERTER PORTABLE GENERATOR RV - eBay (item 180436304883 end time May-21-10 22:18:50 PDT)

unless I find a real RV generator in running condition (in my price range) in the next month or so . . . I just can't get myself to pull the trigger yet??

I can understand and you might run across another MH that you can't live without and trade yours for it!
